Ram - 8 GB

  1. Laptops for Architecture under Rs 80,000 | August 2023 (to be updated)

  2. Laptops for Architecture under Rs 1,80,000 or 1.8 Lakh | August 2023 (to be updated)

  3. Laptops for Architecture under Rs 2,00,000 or 2 Lakh | August 2023 (to be updated)

  4. Laptops for Architecture above Rs 2,00,000 or 2 Lakh | August 2023 (to be updated)

Laptops for Architects/Designers under Rs 60,000 | August 2023

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Note that all Architecture related applications are very resource intensive as in they use a lot of the performance available on the laptop or desktops to their full extent. More importantly, they use up a LOT of memory or RAM. So if you are a user who uses multiple applications such as these at once (such as Photoshop, Sketchup, Lumion, Autocad etc at the same time), then it doesn't matter what laptop you purchase, if it has 16GB or less amount of RAM, then it WILL most definitely slow down depending on the load. This is NOT due to lack of performance of the processor or graphics card but simply because your PC does not have enough RAM to manage all the open applications. While 16GB Ram used to be a good amount of memory 5-10 Years ago, It has become almost a bare minimum now to have at least 16GB to run applications smoothly. Upgrading to 32GB or more is highly recommended for high-end users. We have included laptops slightly above Rs 60,000 if it has 16GB Ram.

You might notice that most laptops in this price segment are from 2021 or 2022 because there hasn't been any relevant laptop launches in this price segment in 2023.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H | GPU: RTX 3050 4GB 85W | Ram: 16GB | SSD: 512 GB | Display: 15.6" FHD 120 Hz - 45% NTSC Coverage | Weight: 2.2Kg

Pros

+ Excellent CPU and GPU pairing

+ Power efficient processor

+ Best in segment GPU

+ Dual SSD slots and Ram Slots

Cons

No Major cons - Not the best Processor in segment

Who is this for?

Designers, Architects, and Architecture students looking for a reliable experience for their entry level and mid end projects such as residences with medium detail etc will find this laptop satisfactory with its 4GB graphics card. For 4K walkthrough rendering or other higher end workload, it is recommended to use laptops with 6GB graphics card or more. However, for students, a laptop in this price category should be satisfactory and it is not Necessary to have a 6GB Graphics card but if affordable, then it is advised.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6 (2021) 82K2022UIN offers the best overall specifications in this price segment without competition. While the 6 Core Ryzen 5 5600H Processor is not the best in segment, the combination of this processor along with RTX 3050 4GB Graphics card, makes this the best option for Architectural usage. This is because the Ryzen 5 5600H is still a very capable processor and most Architectural software tends to rely heavily on the graphics card for intensive tasks such as rendering. RTX 3050 4GB is the best graphics card that you can get at this price making this an ideal laptop with an excellent balance of performance and price in this category. The availability of 16GB Ram along with an empty ram slot for expansion further adds to the value due to easy Ram upgrade options.

Priced slightly above Rs 60,000, applying the coupon UNBOX17 gives an instant discount of Rs 1,750. Lenovo Online store also offers a 10% cashback on payment using any Credit Card. This brings down the price to just Rs 55,746!

Bottom Line: A laptop that you would be hard pressed to find any complaints about. Simply said it is the best laptop that you can get at its price with all the specifications and features that it offers.

Alternative Intel variant to consider only if the above AMD variant isn't available.

2. Acer Aspire 5 A515-57G (2022) - Editor's Choice for Best Value

CPU: Intel Core i5-1240P 12 Cores 16 Threads | GPU: RTX 2050 4GB | Ram: 16 GB | SSD: 512 GB | Display: 15.6" FHD 60 Hz - 45% NTSC Coverage | Weight: 1.8Kg

Pros

+ Dual Ram and SSD slots.

+ Good CPU and GPU combination

+ Excellent performance

+ Excellent value

+ Relatively lightweight

Cons

No Major cons

Who is this for?

Designers, Architects, and Architecture students looking for a lightweight solution without compromising on performance. The Aspire 5 offers a good balance of performance and portability at just 1.8Kg, about 400g-500g lighter than a typical high end laptop in this segment.

The Acer Aspire 5 A515-57G sets itself apart with its impressive portability whiles still offering a 15.6in display and a discrete Graphics card capable of handling 3D Modelling and rendering workloads. It also offers dual ram slots paving the way for ram upgrades in the future. This is usually uncommon in lighter laptops in this price segment making this an excellent laptop worth considering.

Bottom Line: Best lightweight laptop in this segment suitable for Architectural applications.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H | GPU: GTX 1650 4GB | Ram: 16 GB | SSD: 512 GB | Display: 15.6" FHD 120 Hz - 45% NTSC Coverage | Weight: 2.2 Kg

Pros

+ Good performance

+ Upgradeable Ram and Storage

+ 120Hz Refresh rate

Cons

No major cons

- Not the best Processor in segment

Who is this for?

Designers, Architects, and Architecture students with a strict budget.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 is powered by a Ryzen 5 5600H 6 core processor and a 4GB GTX 1650 graphics card. It also has 16GB of Ram and 512GB of storage by default which checks all the boxes for the minimum specifications that we would suggest for a laptop for Architectural applications. The Acer Nitro 5 does arguably offer better specifications and hence we would suggest this only if both the above laptops are unavailable or if the prices have gone up. A slight advantage that the IdeaPad Gaming 3 offers over the Acer Aspire 5 is its 120Hz refresh rate display. Now while the 120Hz refresh rate doesn't offer any kind of performance improvement, it makes the overall experience seem smoother.

Bottom Line: Best entry-level laptop for Architects/Designers and Architecture students.

CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H 6 cores | GPU: RTX 2050 4GB | Ram: 16 GB | SSD: 512 GB | Display: 15.6" FHD 144 Hz - 45% NTSC Coverage | Weight: 2.3 Kg

Pros

+ Good CPU and GPU performance

+ 16GB Ram by default

+ Dual ram and SSD slots

Cons

No Major cons

- Priced slightly above Rs 60,000

- Not the best Processor in segment

Who is this for?

Designers/Architects/Students looking for a robust laptop with good build quality.

The ASUS TUF Gaming F15 is powered by a 6 core i5 processor and a 4GB RTX 2050. Unlike the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 mentioned above, it manages to check off all the boxes for the minimum requirements while also offering a better performing graphics card. However, this laptop is placed lower on this list since it is priced slightly above Rs 60,000 as of the time of writing this article. Apart from that, the rest of the specifications remain similar.

Bottom Line: Alternative choice from Asus that costs slightly more but also offers an upgraded graphics card in comparison to the IdeaPad Gaming 3 mentioned above.
