Under Rs 40,000

1. ASUS VivoBook 14 (2021) X415EA-EB342TS CPU: Intel Core i3-1115G4 | GPU: Intel Iris Xe 48 EUs | Ram: 8 GB | SSD: 256 GB OS: Windows 10 with Office 2019 | Display: 14" FHD 45% NTSC | Weight: 1.6kg | Warranty: 1 Year (can be extended)

For casual users, business users, Office applications etc, this is a good entry level laptop that offers the latest 11th gen Intel core i3 dual core processors. With 8GB ram and 256GB storage, boot times and loading times should be sufficiently fast. Weighing in at just 1.6kg, it is fairly thin and portable as well.

2. Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15ITL6 82H801FKIN CPU: Intel Core i3-1115G4 dual core | GPU: Intel Iris Xe 48 EUs | Ram: 8GB | SSD: 512 GB OS: Windows 10 with Office 2019 | Display: 15.6" FHD 45% NTSC | Weight: 1.65kg | Warranty: 2 Years (can be extended)

This laptop costs slightly more than the above mentioned option but offers double the storage (512 GB SSD) and double the warranty of 2 years by default. It also offers a more professional look in our opinion and offers larger battery life as well. It also has a slightly brighter and larger display in comparison. If you can extend your budget a bit, this would be our suggestion in this price range. Also, with on going bank offers, it might be just under Rs 40,000.

3. Realme Book (slim) CPU: Intel Core i3-1115G4 dual core | GPU: Intel Iris Xe 48 EUs | Ram: 8 GB | SSD: 256 GB 8 GB Windows 10 with Office 2019 | Display: 14" QHD 100% sRGB | Weight: 1.38kg | Warranty: 1 Year

Realme has now entered the laptops space and is offering one of the best in class displays in this price segment. This is the only laptop in this segment to offer a Quad HD resolution and good color gamut making it a good choice for media consumption. It is also rather lightweight and compact.

A laptop with an OLED display was something that was reserved only for the premium laptops but this has changed in 2021 since Asus decided to launch the affordable K15 OLED lineup. Simply said, this laptop offers the best in class viewing experience on a laptop in its segment. With the latest 11th gen dual core i3 processor, 8 GB ram and 256 GB of fasts storage, it should easily accommodate office tasks and most other light / general usage as well. Under Rs 50,000, this would be our favourite pick for a laptop.

2. HP 15s-eq2040AU - Editor's choice for best performance CPU: Ryzen 5 5500U 6 cores | GPU: RX Vega 7 | Ram: 8 GB | SSD: 512 GB OS: Windows 10 with Office 2019 | Display: 15.6" 45% NTSC | Weight: 1.69kg | Warranty: 1 Year (can be extended)

Simply said, this laptop offers the best processor in this price segment and should be capable for even some serious CPU intensive loads with its 6 cores and 12 threads. However, if you need the best performance on the go, it is recommended to refer the performance section. With 8 GB ram and 512 GB storage, it is a common memory configuration in this price range. However, we would advise that you upgrade the ram to 16 GB for a more seamless multi tasking experience if you are someone that uses multiple applications at once.

3. Dell Inspiron 5410 2 in 1 Laptop CPU: Intel i3 1125G4 4 cores | GPU: Intel Iris Xe 48 EUs | Ram: 8 GB | SSD: 256 GB OS: Windows 10 with Office 2019 | Display: 14" 45% NTSC | Weight: 1.56kg | Warranty: 1 Year (can be extended)

In this budget, if you are looking for a multi purpose business laptop or if you have usage which requires touch input and note taking, you could consider a 2 in 1 or a convertible laptop like this Dell Inspiron which offers a tablet like mode as well as a regular laptop mode for varying usages. With a quad core i3 11th gen processor, 8 GB ram and 256 GB of storage, it should be sufficient for most users with general office workloads.

Under Rs 60,000

1. Fujitsu UH-X - Lightest laptop one can get CPU: Intel Core i5-1135G7 4 cores | GPU: Intel Iris Xe 80 EUs | Ram: 8 GB | SSD: 512 GB OS: Windows 10 with Office 2019 | Display: 13.3" 100% sRGB | Weight: 878g | Warranty: 2 Years

This is the lightest laptop one can get in any price range, however the lightness will also come with some drawbacks such as the rigidity and the extremely compact profile of the laptop. So, don't expect large trackpads and key travels on this laptop. However, if you want to carry as light as possible, this would make a decent choice for extreme portability and sufficient performance with its combination of hardware.

2. Acer Swift 3 - Editor's overall choice CPU: Ryzen 5 5500U 6 cores | GPU: RX Vega 7 | Ram: 8 GB | SSD: 512 GB OS: Windows 10 with Office 2019 | Display: 14" 100% sRGB | Weight: 1.2kg | Warranty: 1 Year (can be extended)

With a good balance of hardware, build quality, portability, design and performance, this was a rather easy pick among the laptops in this segment. It is fairly light weight at just 1.2kg while still being sufficiently rigid, offers a 6 core Ryzen CPU for some capable performance and a good display color gamut which is not often common in this price segment. For those with a good amount of multi tasking requirements, it is recommended that you upgrade the ram to 16 GB when required for a seamless experience when switching between applications. (this is applicable to all laptops with 8 GB ram, mentioned in particular here since users might go overboard with multi tasking due to the presence of 6 cores when in reality you need more ram than core count for multi tasking)

3. Mi Notebook Ultra CPU: Intel i5-11300H 4 cores | GPU: Intel Iris Xe 80 EUs | Ram: 8 GB | SSD: 512 GB OS: Windows 10 with Office 2019 | Display: 15.6" 3K 100% sRGB | Weight: 1.7kg | Warranty: 1 Year (can be extended)

Mi Notebook Ultra would definitely turn some heads due to its eye catchy and rather Macbook-eque resembling design. Apart from the design language, the internals seem to be mostly on par with what the competition offers except for 1 significant difference. The display. The display is a 3K resolution panel with 100% sRGB offering unparalleled sharpness on a laptop in this price segment. With 90 Hz refresh rate, it is also one of the first outside of gaming / high performance laptops to offer a fast 90 Hz refresh rate which can make the overall experience more fluidic. At just under 60k, this is an interesting choice for business users.

While we didn't want to list more than 3 options, this laptop definitely holds a position in this segment for the amount of multi threaded performance that it offers. This is one of the only laptops in this price segment to offer an 8 core Ryzen CPU from the latest Ryzen 5000 series. So, if your usage involves multi threaded applications in this budget such as light video editing or other light CPU based simulations, or for creating Virtual machines, this would make for an excellent choice for such usages.
