IMPORTANT NOTE:

Note that all Architecture related applications are very resource intensive as in they use a lot of the performance available on the laptop or desktops to their full extent. More importantly, they use up a LOT of memory or RAM. So if you are a user who uses multiple applications such as these at once (such as Photoshop, Sketchup, Lumion, Autocad etc at the same time), then it doesn't matter what laptop you purchase, if it has 16GB or less amount of RAM, then it WILL most definitely slow down depending on the load. This is NOT due to lack of performance of the processor or graphics card but simply because your PC does not have enough RAM to manage all the open applications. While 16GB Ram used to be a good amount of memory 5-10 Years ago, It has become almost a bare minimum now to have at least 16GB to run applications smoothly. Upgrading to 32GB or more is highly recommended for high-end users.

The HP Omen 16 is currently available with an 8GB RTX 3070 Ti for just Rs 1,22,900. Note that, specifications like these normally cost more than Rs 1,50,000 making this an excellent deal. With a high-end 8-core Ryzen processor with excellent power efficiency, minimal design language, and a large battery, the HP Omen 16 by default takes the crown for some of the best gaming laptops that you can buy under Rs 1,50,000. Hurry, if the price hasn't already gone back up by now. At its current price of Rs 1,22,900, you cannot find a better high-end laptop worth considering.

Who is this for?

For Architects and designers looking for a balance between performance and portability, this laptop should be an excellent fit.

The ASUS TUF Dash F15 strikes an excellent balance between performance and portability. Weighing in at 2kg, it is anywhere from 300-600 grams lighter than other higher end laptops on this list. With a power-efficient i7 12th gen processor paired with an RTX 3070 with 8GB of VRAM, this laptop will handle all Architectural programs with ease. Particularly the graphics-heavy rendering applications where the 8GB VRAM should help with large-scale and detailed models. Despite it being relatively thin and lighter, it still has 2 ram slots and upgradeable storage. Everything else including battery and display is great and no compromises have been made in this regard.

Bottom Line: Excellent balance between performance and portability without sacrificing on other features at this price. Easily the Editor's choice.

- Not the best build

- Might not have reliable after-sales support

Who is this for?

Designers, Architects, and Architecture students on a budget looking to get the most that they can along with 8GB VRAM on a budget.

The MSI Gaming Crosshair 15 may not be the fanciest (definitely flashy though) or minimal looking laptop that you can carry into a professional setting. However, underneath all of that flashiness packs excellent performance powered by top end Intel 12th gen i7 with 14 cores and RTX 3070 8GB graphics card. Without doubt, you CANNOT find another laptop at this price point offering the same amount of performance or as good specifications. It also offers a sharp QHD Display with good colors, good expansion options with dual ram and dual SSD slots for all your future upgrades. However, the build quality is not up to par as that of a premium laptop. But if all you care about is performance, then this is the way to go.

Bottom Line: A value-for-money choice with top-of-the-line specifications in its class. Setting aside the mediocre build quality and questionable after-sales support, the laptop performs well and punches above its weight class in terms of performance.

CPU: Ryzen 9 5980HX 8 cores | GPU: RX 6800M 12GB 145W | Ram: 16 GB | SSD: 1 TB | Display: 15.6" QHD 165 Hz - 100% DCI-P3 Coverage | Weight: 2.5 Kg

Pros

+ Excellent Graphics performance.

+ Excellent battery life

+ Sharp QHD Display

+ Good value

Cons

- Relatively older gen

- No webcam

Who is this for?

Designers, Architects, and Architecture students. looking for high end rendering performance on a budget.

The selling point of this laptop undeniably is the sheer amount of VRAM that it has which should help significantly for rendering in all kinds of graphics intensive application such as V-Ray, Lumion, TwinMotion etc. While it has a 2021 generation processor, it is the highest end processor that was launched during that year and still holds up pretty well. It lacks an in built webcam but you are likely to get a bundled external webcam of better quality than internal webcams anyway. Apart from this, with good battery life, sharp QHD Display and good upgradeability options, this is an easy recommendation especially at its current prices of around 1.35 Lakh. It used to be around Rs 15,000 more

Bottom Line: Lowest priced laptop with 12GB Graphics card and long battery life. Solid choice if you use rendering applications primarily or a lot on the go.

CPU: Intel Core i7-12700H 14 cores | GPU: RTX 3070 8GB 130W | Ram: 16 GB | SSD: 1 TB | Display: 15.6" FHD 240 Hz - 100% sRGB Coverage | Weight: 2.3 Kg

Pros

+ Excellent CPU and GPU Pairing

+ Dual Ram and Storage slots. + Good display colors

+ Good port selection

Cons

No major cons

- Very little is known about the real-life performance and after-sales service

- Loud fans

- Bad webcam placement

Who is this for?

Designers, Architects, and Architecture students

Alternate choice from Gigabyte that offers very similar specifications to the options mentioned above. It offers top-of-the-line specifications as expected from this price range and has a good display along with memory and storage expansion slots. If the above choices are not available, then this is a laptop worth considering. Also, note that the webcam is placed at the bottom of the display which might be an ideal viewing angle.

Bottom Line: Alternate choice with top-of-the-line CPU and GPU under Rs 1.5 Lakh.

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800H 8 cores | GPU: RTX 3070 8GB 130W | Ram: 16 GB | SSD: 1 TB | Display: 15.6" FHD 300 Hz - 100% sRGB Coverage | Weight: 2.3 Kg

Pros

+ Good display

+ Excellent performance

+ Good cooling + Excellent battery life

Cons

- No webcam

- Relatively older gen processor

Who is this for?

Designers/Architects/Students looking for a reliable laptop that offers good set of specifications suitable for Architectural applications.

This is the 2021 Asus Strix G15. While this is from 2021, it uses the same graphics card that is being used in other newer laptops in this list and has a very capable processor. So while it is not outdated by any count, it is admittedly, relatively older as compared to 2022 or 2023 laptops. However, in terms of performance, battery life and reliability, this laptop is unlikely to disappoint with excellent performance and a good display. Launched at a price around 1.7 Lakh, it is currently available around 1.47 Lakh. If the 2022 Asus TUF Dash F15 mentioned is not available, this is a good alternative worth considering if portability is not a concern (this weighs a standard 2.3 Kg while the TUF weighs 2 Kg). Note that there is NO webcam on this model as well.

Bottom Line: Recommended only if Asus TUF Dash F15 (2022) isn't in stock. Alternative choice for a high-end laptop with reliable cooling, excellent battery life, and dual SSD slots.
