What is the currently launched model in India?

ASUS ROG Strix G15 G513QY-HQ008TS Advantage Edition is the first Advantage laptop to be launched in India. It is priced at Rs 1,54,990 and has the following specifications.

The ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition is reported to be available starting today on the 11th August 2021 on the following platforms:

  • ASUS Exclusive stores

  • Flipkart

  • Croma

  • Reliance Digital

  • Vijay Sales

However, we couldn't find any Links to the laptop on the Croma, Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales websites. The laptop has so far only been listed on Flipkart with a coming soon tag and hence should hopefully be available soon. Powered by the Ryzen 5900HX and RX 6800M, the laptop is priced well considering the performance that it offers. In gaming, the performance rivals that of RTX 3070 and even an RTX 3080 in certain titles. With the pricing close to the recently launched Lenovo Legion 5 Pro which offers similar specifications, it is reasonable to be confused among the two choices as to which should be your purchase. As far as we can tell, both have their own merits and will appeal to a certain audience. However, that's too vague and here are our thoughts on which one could be the best for you.

In the above table, we have highlighted most of the differences in specifications with the better specification getting a blue highlight. The two have their own aesthetics common to the Strix and Legion lineups respectively. While the CPU is a tad bit better on the Strix Advantage, the Display is notably brighter on the Legion along with other features such as HDR400. However, the display brightness may not be a deal breaker since 300 nits is sufficiently bright and is the most common brightness level among laptops available in India. Interestingly, the Strix gets a wider color gamut which means it will appeal to movie watchers and content creators who can make use of the 100% DCI-P3 coverage. The Strix also gets 1 Year of Warranty (Can be extended for additional 2 years Rs 2,499) while the Legion gets 3 Years of Warranty. Rest of the differences in specifications are minor and self explanatory.

Do note that the Legion 5 Pro RTX 3070 configuration is only available by customizing directly from Lenovo store at the time of writing. However, the customizable configuration is currently unavailable from the Lenovo website and when available, takes about 4-6 weeks for delivery.

Should you get this?

To the average consumer or gamer, none of the above mentioned make a lot of difference and either of them should offer excellent gaming performance. As a tip, if you are planning to get the ROG Strix Advantage edition, remember to register on asuspromo.in within 15 days of purchase to purchase extended warranty or accessories at discounted rates.
